Ryan Burgess is Zagaria Vocal Academy’s Student Of The Month for March 2016.

Zagaria Vocal Academy L.L.C is proud to announce the Student Of The Month Award for March 2016 recipient, Ryan Burgess.  Ryan began studying voice at the end of December 2015.  In only a three month span Ryan has improved his singing technique in an extraordinary way.  I believe Ryan’s rapid success is due directly to his high musical IQ, class attentiveness, ability to retain information taught in his weekly class, and dedication to practice the new information daily.  Ryan began his lessons with a very robust two octave range.  Two weeks ago Ryan had a nine note increase in range.  Last week he gained another two notes for a total of 11 more notes that he can now negotiate with good technique.  This week Ryan added a note to his chest voice giving him an impressive three octave range.

Furthermore, Ryan’s breathing technique has greatly improved.  His tone has also developed considerably into a richer and more evenly distributed frequency response over his range.  Burgess is also improving intonation in his singing.  He is really beginning to gain consistency in his pitch while singing as well.

Ryan is from Boca Raton, FL.  He is in tenth grade and boasts an excellent GPA considering he gets mostly A’s and B’s.  He comes into my studio for lessons most weeks, while other’s he Skype’s in during his class time.  Ryan has been singing in his school choir since sixth grade and loves singing.  He has also participated in school band and school plays.  In Burgess’s own words, “Some of the activities I love to do now are song writing, singing and creating music. I hope to become a singer in the future and to change the world with my music. I would love to grow in my voice and improve as time goes on.”

Joey Caldeiro 2

ZVA’s Artist Of The Month – Joey Calderaio

Joey Calderaio and I met back in the Fall of 2015 through Skype voice lessons when he began taking lessons through Zagaria Vocal Academy’s online program.  We have worked together since then on a weekly basis through Skype. I have chosen him to the first in our “Artist Profile” Series.

Calderaio is a professional vocalist from Palm Beach County, Florida.  Based out of Jupiter Florida, Calderaio is the lead vocalist for Jahzilla, a six piece band.  He also heads up acoustic acts with some of his Jahzilla bandmates.  The group plays music genres including top 40’s, classic rock, funk, and reggae.  Jahzilla incorporates vocals, lead & rhythm guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, saxophone, and flute, creating a sound that is not only full, but dynamic and diverse.

Jahzilla frequently performs throughout South Florida at venues such as Harbourside Amphitheater, Hard Rock Casino, Seminole Casino, JB’s By The Beach in Deerfield, private parties & events, weddings, and more.

Joey Calderaio is also working on an original music project.  We look forward to hearing his new recordings soon.

I find Joey to be a promising up and coming artist.  In a short time his already impressive range has expanded seven more notes.  His vocal control is much improved and he is now able to perform four hour gigs without vocal strain.

I highly recommend checking out Joey Calderaio in any group or project he is involved with.  You won’t be sorry you did.

Joey Caldeiro can be contacted through this Facebook link:

Shawn Malaney of South Florida has officially accepted Zagaria Vocal Academy’s, “Student Of the Month” award for July 2015.  ZVA is proud to present the award due to the remarkable improvement of Shawn’s vocal performance ability after losing his voice.

Shawn Malaney

Shawn Malaney: Professional vocalist who recently regained his voice through vocal coaching and therapy wins monthly award and performs this Friday night with The Earl Trio at “Pompano Under The Stars”, Pompano Beach, FL

After fifty years of professional and semi-professional singing, Malaney lost his singing voice due to both vocal strain and a long bout with Sinusitis.  Shawn came to ZVA for vocal therapy to help him restore his voice.  Malaney’s voice came back strong, after several weekly lessons and the help of Zagaria’s book and video tutorials.  In Malaney’s words, “Earlier this year I basically “lost” my singing voice due to 4-5 months of Sinusitis, and vocal strain.”  – quote from Shawn Malaney’s post on the “Know Your Voice”, Video tutorial Lessons on demand page, https://vimeo.com/ondemand/kyv

Shawn came to ZVA with the hopes of healing and strengthening his voice to perform summer concerts that he and his band had committed to, as well as in the hopes that he could continue to sing professionally for many years.  We at the ZVA are extremely proud of his accomplishment and are grateful that his voice is both healthy and robust in professional tone.

Malaney is a talented lead vocalist and lead guitarist.  He headlines the classic rock band, Malaney concert“The Earl Trio”.  Malaney also performs professional as a soloist and is diversely trained both in opera/classical as well as popular singing.  “Music Under The Stars” is presented by “Vista Motor Company” and is a free concert this Friday evening at 7:00 on the Pompano Beach Great Lawn.  Get there early, the event is known to attract approximately six hundred people.  A concert event promo is included in this article below and to the right for further details.

Sarah Gibson receives ZVA’s Student Of the Month Award – (Receives Big Time Music Contract, Offered Co-Writing Agreement With Rihanna)

Sarah Gibson of Boca Raton FL has officially accepted Zagaria Vocal Academy’s, “Student Of the Month” award for June 2015.

Zagaria Vocal Academy student, Sarah Gibson, had an exciting June when she was “discovered” by an event specialist and talent scout through Sarah’s Youtube video.

Sarah Gibson - ZVA's Student Of The Month for June 2015

Sarah Gibson – ZVA’s Student Of The Month for June 2015

Word reached Bu Thiam (Rihanna, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, and brother of Akron) who then flew to Boca Raton from L.A. for a dinner meeting to meet with Gibson.  Sarah and her mom invited me to sit in on the meeting.  Thiam was so impressed he expressed immediate interest in signing Gibson.  Thiam delivered Gibson a contract to record her albums within a couple of days of our meeting.  Part of the agreement was to immediately begin co-writing with Rihanna.

As her personal teacher, I was very impressed with Sarah’s handling of the pressure of meeting with a big time music personality, Thiam, who has a clear track record of success in the industry.  After much consideration, Sarah decided to pursue her dreams as an independent artist and not sign with Thiam.

Sarah is a sixteen year old singer/songwriter.  She has an amazing ability to write music, an incredible voice, and very good skills on both piano and guitar.  Gibson recently won first place in her school’s talent show a few months ago (Boca Community High School).  You can catch Sarah in South Florida, as she sings locally in Boca Raton, at various clubs that have open mic night, (The Grind Cafe and The Seed).

We look forward to hearing new releases as she gears up for her independent record and video releases.  You can view Sarah Gibson’s official Youtube video channel at this link: Sarah’s Youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/user/sargibson .

Congratulations to Sarah!
